The golf stance is one where both feet are at least shoulder's width apart. For the right-handed golfer, the toes of the left foot will be pointed about 15 degrees to the left while the right foot will be pointing normally straight ahead. Your stance will be the widest when using the driver and slightly closed. This means the left foot should be slightly ahead of the right foot. As you move from the nine iron, eight iron, seven iron to the pitching wedge, you stance will become progressively narrower and more open.

The knees in the golf stance should be just slightly bent, while the back should be straight. It is also best to have the head straight and in line with the back to have the best golf swing stance. The key here is to be relaxed.

There are variations with the golf stance that have to be employed when you want to fade or draw the ball.

A fade is when the ball flies straight and near the end of its flight it curves slightly right. A draw is when the ball flies straight and near the end of its flight it curves slightly left.
